Leaving Downtown towards Saladin Castle, you will drive within the famous city Cairo and embracing the Nile, and passing through a wall which was connecting the Nile with the Castle to transfer the water through its roof, named as Sour Magra Eleyoun.
Before arriving to the castle, don’t miss seeing the famous mosque which is located inside the castle for Mohamed Ali Pacha.Saladin Castle was built almost 1177 AD, as a protective fortress against the Turkish Threat at the time.Later on, Mohamed Ali pacha decided to transfer the throne seat to the Castle, and built his famous mosque in 1840 which took almost 20 years in construction with its heave decorations.
After finishing your visit to the Castle, you will be taken to Old Cairo, where is the most famous religious complex which enclosed the first mosque was built in Cairo, Amr Ibn Alas mosque in the first Islamic Capital Fustat, and the Jewish Synagogue of Bin Ezra, and many churches dated back to the Roman & Coptic times. Traces of the Roman fortress of Babylon will be shown here as well, which was built to protect the canal linked the Nile to the Red Sea during the Roman times.
