First, visit Pompey’s Pillar. It was built in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally from the Temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling Soma and Caesarean Section. Then drive to the Catacombs, which are the largest Roman cemetery, consisting of three levels carved into the rock. Lunch at a local restaurant in Alexandria, then continue to the Qaitbay citadel, which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) in Alexandria, to the Bibliotheca Alexandria. Eventually, you will be transferred back to your Cairo hotel.
